Finding your own style is not such a simple thing. Actually it should work quite by itself, but supplied at a time in which one of magazines every few months with new trends in magazines every week seduces with new must-haves and blogs daily with new inspirations fed, it is not always easy to stay true to your own taste. Maybe it's the ladies that are presented in the book "A question of style", so easy to please their own style to find. After all, they did so several decades ago. But it could have also leaned on their strong personalities.
Whatever it was, women like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Jackie Kennedy and Twiggy, the fashion world have influenced her time and influence our today. Short texts and quotations reported in "A Question of Style" from their life stories. Meaningful Pictures and personal portraits bear witness to their particular way of dressing. It follows the reader Katherine Hepburn in her "uniform" from man's shirt and flared trousers to the film set, see Coco Chanel, almost always with cigarette and pearls, at work in her studio, designer Mary Quant was observed during the fitting of a steering wheel pants or accompanied Lady Diana in pink costume to visit the British army.
The selection of the ten women who were of course all have a particular style, I applied to the first pages in the book not quite track. A close reading opened to me, however, a journey through several decades of fashion, led by the featured personalities. In particular, the unique photographs make "A question of style" to a diverse, entertaining picture book and who perhaps also to find his own style on.
